#GetToKnowDERlabMembers is the newest initiative from DERlab aiming to highlight our valuable members and their expertise.

Today we would like to highlight our esteemed member Turku University of Applied Sciences and especially New Energy Research Center – (NERC).

Through participation in DERlab activities, New Energy Research Eenter (NERC) had gained great opportunities to develop projects and research infrastructure together with professionals all over Europe.

Meet Dominique Roggo, researcher focusing on converters, microgrids and power quality and enthusiast developer of NERC research infrastructure on distributed energy systems.

NERC Distributed Energy System laboratory hosts demonstration and research platforms of energy systems including production, storage and control at the scale of buildings or of  LVDC distribution grid.

DES Lab focuses on distributed energy resources integration into smart grids or microgrids and on optimal and efficient use of renewable energy. The DES Lab is equipped with programmable AC and DC power sources, loads and accurate power instrumentation.

Functional testing, efficiency assessment and grid code compliance testing of single DER converters can be realized in standards set-ups. More advanced systems, like Energy Management Systems or Smart Grid Applications can be tested with the help of Hardware in the Loop Simulations. NERC lab also includes comprehensive equipment for PV research and has the only accredited PV test laboratory in Finland.
